How To Cancel The SASSA SRD Grant

SASSA Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grants can be cancelled for a variety of reasons. There are several reasons why you might be able to cancel the grant, including finding a job or having financial income you can sustain. You can cancel your SRD Grant by following these steps, whatever the reason may be. 

How To Cancel The SASSA SRD Grant

  • Visit the SASSA SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za  
  • You can cancel your application by scrolling down.
  • You can cancel your reservation online by clicking on the yellow cancellation bar.
  • Click on ‘send pin’ after providing your ID number and mobile number.
  • An SMS will be sent to you with a six-digit One Time Pin (OTP).
  • In order to verify the pin, the client must enter the OTP number in the required field.
  • You can then cancel your grant by clicking ‘cancel my grant’.
  • There will be a message asking if the applicant is sure about the grant cancellation.
  • To cancel, click yes, or to discard, click no.

You can call or whatsapp the helpline if you need assistance during the process. In case your ID number or details used during registration are asked for, make sure you have them handy. 

You will no longer receive money from SASSA once this process is completed. When you receive the SRD grant, you should notify them if your circumstances change.

You may cancel your application if your circumstances change in a way that you no longer qualify for the special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant.Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant applications can only be submitted electronically.

SASSA will request confirmation of your bank account through a secure site, this will also be done electronically once you are approved for the grant. To protect themselves, applicants can request confirmation that this request is from SASSA.

Social Relief of Distress can be given in the form of food parcels or vouchers for food purchases. This assistance is sometimes provided in the form of cash by some provinces. 

As a temporary grant, Social Relief of Distress is given for a short period of time. The grant will only be available until March 2022 under the newest cycle. Visit the SASSA website for more information about SRD cancellation: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
