Appeal For SASSA Relief Grant March 2023

Appeal For SASSA Relief Grant March 2023

Due to the economic impact of COVID-19, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) introduced the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant in 2020. In spite of this, not all applicants were successful in their applications, so an appeal system was established to allow applicants to request a second review of their applications.

What may cause an application to be declined?

It is possible for an application for the SASSA SRD R350 grant to be declined for a number of reasons. Duplication of applications, incomplete or incorrect information in the application, and not meeting eligibility criteria are some of the reasons.

Why the appeal system was made:

Applicants who were rejected for SASSA SRD R350 grants had a second chance to have their applications reviewed through the appeal system. The goal of this system is to ensure that all eligible applicants receive the assistance they need during this difficult time.

How to make an appeal after decline:

Following a few simple steps, applicants can appeal their SASSA SRD R350 grant rejection.

  • Visit https://srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals/appeal for more information
  • The 13-digit ID number and phone number you used to submit the application should be provided
  • The appeal platform will open for you once you have received the pin code. As a security measure, the pin code is set.
  • Choose the month for which you want to appeal
  • You must match the appeal reason with the reason for the denial.
  • Please submit your application.

How long must one wait to receive the outcome of the appeal application

Following the submission of an appeal application, an outcome will be provided within 60 to 90 working days. Using the same procedure described above for appeals, the outcome will be communicated. Check the status on the same website.

What is the grace period for a declined applicant to submit appeal application

SASSA SRD R350 grant applicants have 90 days from the date of their initial application to appeal their rejection. Grant applications must be submitted within this timeframe or they will have to reapply.
